Robbie fights hard to a solid 5th position |
|
After a very eventfull day, with weather changing by the minute. Robbie brought the bike home today to a solid 5th position in the National Superstock race.
It really had been another weekend of ups and downs for team RBR at Knockhill, after starting slow Robbie just missed out on a front row start, however, Robbie topped the timesheets in morning warmup with a time quicker than his previous best all weekend and things were looking good for the race.
After a reasonable start, Robbie managed to hold 8th position on the first lap and things were looking good, he then managed to get into 5th position, but unfortunately, by that time, the leaders had vanished and Robbie couldn’t bridge the gap no matter how hard he tried. He managed to fight hard for 5th position and kept it to the line.
"Its obviously a bit of a disappointment for me today, after topping the time sheets in the morning and being consistently fast in the wet and dry, I really expected a podium today but the race just didn’t pan out as planned, by the time I got some consistent laps in the leaders had gone. I tried and tried but I didn’t have anything left in me and finished 5th - still, it’s a good solid finish and I am still in with a chance of the championship. So all is not lost. I will be training hard ready for the physically demanding Cadwell Park circuit in two weeks where hopefully I can get back to winning ways" commented a rather positive Robbie
So now it’s a weekend break and onto one of the best circuits on the calendar - Cadwell Park, where Robbie hopes to relight his championship chances.
