Kamikaze Manoeuvre sees Robbie’s title hopes shattered |
|
Robbie’s title hopes took a massive blow today, after he was taken out by another rider on lap 1. He can only hope for better luck heading into the final double
header at Brands Hatch in 2 weeks time, where he hopes he can re-kindle
his title hopes and come away with the title.
Robbie’s race was brought to a premature halt, after Jamie Hamilton made a kamikaze manoeuvre on lap 1 into the final chicane. Robbie was in 4th position at the time, and he says that the bike was feeling great and he felt a podium would have been an almost definite.
“I cannot even begin to explain what is going through my head at the minute. The weekend has been a complete and utter disaster. I had a huge crash in QP2, and then this. I was sitting in a comfortable 4th position and then, it seemed like Jamie thought he could win the race on lap 1! It wouldn’t be too bad if we were all fighting for the win, in the dying stages on the race, but in lap 1 for someone to pull a stunt like that must be insane!”
“Obviously its racing and I have to deal with it, but at the very least I would have expected an apology! Instead all I got was ‘I had nowhere to go’!”
“I managed to get back on the bike and rejoin the race, but the engine was getting slower and slower, and we have recently discovered that the crash caused an oil starvation to the engine, causing major damage to the crank, another blow for us!”
“Well, what can I say? I will be forgetting this weekend ever happened by tomorrow morning and I will definitely be out to win at Brands. I have a few cycling events to complete before Brands, so I will be in top shape. Hopefully I can prove to teams that I am a worthy rider for the 2009 rider lists!” Explained a disappointed Robbie
Now it’s onto the 1 weekend break where Robbie hopes to regroup ahead of Brands, where Robbie still has a mathematical chance of taking the title.
