Frustration continues at Donington PDF Print E-mail

Qualifying day at Donington Park did not go to plan for the team today. After a late night rebuilding the bike, there were major problems in the morning internally with the engine, which forced Robbie to miss qualifying 1.

The team were rebuilding the engine late into the night last night (Saturday) in the hopes that it would give Robbie a chance to qualify for Monday’s race. The bike was sent to the dyno in the morning, but immediately problems started and the team decided not to participate in QP1 for safety reasons.

After a long morning/afternoon problem finding and rebuilding the bike, the team decided to at least take part in QP2 so that they had the option to race on Monday should they find the problems. Robbie rode his own session, doing as many laps as he could to try and find the perfect setup. He managed to better his first practice time by over 2 seconds, placing him 24th on the grid.

"Well, where can I start with this weekend? Obviously it’s a bonus to be able to ride the bike, but I just didn’t have the time I needed to get a good setup. Qualifying went well, but I struggled to keep my line and hold onto a good lap.

The bike is far from being right in terms of performance. We are over 10bhp down on some of the bikes out there, so it was always going to be a tall order to qualify well. Still, I am trying to keep positive, we have a better setup now, and although the bike isn’t at its best, we are 3rd in the cup, so there is still everything to fight for. Tomorrows aim is to see the race through to the chequered flag, obviously if the result is there, I will take it though! Take no prisoners!
I was given a real 4 leaf clover today by some friends, unbelievable, I have never seen one before, I am popping it on the bike tonight, and hopefully it will bring me some good luck ahead of tomorrow! Watch this space!"
explained a rather enthusiastic Robbie

Robbie has it all to do in the 18 lap race tomorrow, which will be live on Eurosport. Everyone has their fingers crossed for the team who hope to gather some points! Keep an eye on the website for the latest info.
